new player welcome post
[Hello, new players! This post is for new and old players to get acquainted with each other in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC). I will be updating the character roster shortly for easy reference. Characters from the first arc who are still wrapping things up in Move 24, feel free to continue; I'll get to y'all shortly.
In the meantime, feel free to introduce yourself in OOC threads, including any information you want other players to have about you (including pronouns if relevant, or what time zones you're usually on, that kind of thing.]
[IC]
Ashari has just recruited a number of newcomers to the team in the hopes of shoring up its weaknesses and is, in classic Andan fashion, throwing a party on the Cantata (the moth ship formerly known as the Wasp and/or Bumblebee) so that folks can meet-and-greet. There are canapés, and Ashari promised Sulen that there are no recreational substances other than the alcohol if anyone wants it; Ashari is currently in the galley mixing drinks for anyone who asks. The public spaces of the interior have been decorated with somewhat lopsided and overly colorful artificial flowers (the matter printer was feeling cranky) as well as plush moths. There are in addition six friendly levitating baby moths, all wriggly tentacles and eyes, who will gravitate toward anyone who sings to them, and who like to be petted.
For the purposes of this post, "public areas" include the galley, the common room, and the storage hold, which has been temporarily pressed into service as a place where people can hang out. People are also welcome to hold private conversations elsewhere. For the moment, however, the cockpit, engine room, commander's office, and communications room/gunnery are off-limits.
[See this wiki entry on the Cantata-Wasp for more details on its layout.]

OOC: ursula
I am very excited about gaming with everyone!
I should note that Sasha is intense in ways that I am not; if you ever need me to dial back the aggression or the weird family memories, just say the word.
I'm GMing the meta-RPG as Ankat, a minor Kel from Ninefox Gambit, borrowed from

OOC: Rue
I am in US Eastern time and am (also!) dramatically a morning person, very little I say after 4pm or so makes a lot of sense which is why I'm not doing anything IC yet. :) I use she/her pronouns and am very bad at talking about myself.
As a note, my character and I are both medical clinicians of slightly different varieties and therefore my natural tendency is to be pretty accurate and detailed about that sort of stuff -- please feel free to kick me if there's too much surgical detail in your pretendy fun injuries, as that isn't everyone's cup of tea.]

I've never really used Dreamwidth, but you can message me here, it will bounce to my email. You can also email etiennetelling@gmail or discord Asher#7621.
I typically hang out on tumblr, also have an pillowfort.io account, and an (mostly) inactive tarot blog ]

Scoping the Room
They scope the room before they walk in, catching the person at the bar, two people chatting around the…moths? And the person in flamboyantly yellow dress, which they appreciate. Seyli puts their back against a wall, squares their shoulder, sets themselves, and watches, but it doesn’t look like anyone is a risk.
[[OOC: Seyli isn't the type to approach strangers first, even if they are suppose to work together.]]
Re: Scoping the Room
"Hello! I'm honored to meet you!" (Technically, meeting some barbarian can not be an honor, but she's being very diplomatic, she thinks. And anyway, in this company she cannot be picky.) "Do you happen to know the occasion of", she waves her hand vaguely at the dancing and drinking people and some flying tentacled beings she can't identify, "all this?"

I'm they/them all the time. Iawa's genderfluid and can be she or he or they at various times (usually day to day, not moment to moment.) Your characters don't have to be able to tell, but you can check what pronouns I use for them and what colour the userpic is (purple = she, gold = they, red = he, cryo-corpses = OOC.)
I'm horribly slack about replying punctually, and also tend to get anxious and disappear, so in case you're the sort of person who worries about these things, it's not something you said, it's me. I am sorry and am trying to be better, but it doesn't always... work. I'm on the east coast of Australia, but my sleep schedule is all calendrical rot all the time.]
OOC: hoardingpearls (Six)
I prefer they/them pronouns online, and Reshad uses whatever matches current presentation, but defaults to 'she.'
You can PM me here (it'll go to my email, so I'll see it quickly). I'm in and out of Discord, so that's probably the best option.
I'll usually be on in something like a US timezone.

Ankat and Kaliyan
Re: Ankat and Kaliyan
continuing sensible conversations
"Yeah, we've got a tiny foxling who doesn't know the meaning of fear. With luck, one of the adult foxes will get stuck with the babysitting." Sasha shrugs. "I don't know if you see traveling in time as an advantage? I think that's worth the price of admission, most days. But maybe it's different if this is your past, and not your future."
"Do any foxes know the meaning of fear." Seyli finally turns their attention back to their drink, which has been mostly ignored. "It's interesting, to say the least. And I find the goal appealing, to say the very least. I'm not sure my future had much in the way of it, so." They shrug. "This is it, now."
Re: continuing sensible conversations
"Yeah. Can I ask you about a weapon, from the future? Alaric told me something that concerned me, but I don't trust him to estimate orders of magnitude."
The Shuos are from later, so they might know more. But Sasha doesn't need to go out of her way to engage the pretty people, no matter how innocently they seem to be playing with the mothlings.
