Generalized Art Post #2

Follow up to Generalized Art Post #1, which is getting long (and probably long to load as well).

Art may be posted as comments here. :) Please limit width to 600 pixels (and for on-screen viewing you probably want to limit to 72 dpi as well, so the filesizes don't blow up).

I've really been enjoying seeing the creativity of those of you who make art & graphics. :) Thank you for sharing your works!

Okay, I bite: where do you get silver gouache, and can you get it in gold as well? I'm sitting on gouache in Titanium White and Carmine for Art Purposes but I confess it hadn't occurred to me to look for metallics...=D

Any place you get other gouache, and yes, you can definitely get gold as well. I have a little tiny bit of shell gold that works the same way but is genuinely gold metal.

Ahahahaha one of my favorite artists (Stephanie Pui-Mun Law) is primarily a watercolorist who has taken to putting ACTUAL GOLD LEAF on her paintings. Like, I am not nearly good enough at art to be spending $$$ on genuine gold. XD It sure looks pretty, though!

I . . . am just not that good at applying gold leaf, heh. It's hard to get a crisp edge and I really ought to get someone to give me a proper lesson.

I don't know about the RPG specifically but I assumed it was a generalized jeng-zai illustration (cf. Machineries of Tarot--uh, when Stephanie gets back from vacation I've got to ask her about putting up a full list of the cards so that people don't go crazy trying to extract them via readings seeded by pseudorandom number generator...).

Yeah, this is what you get when you cross jeng-zai with the Rosenwald Tarot (and the limitations of my linocut skills; I need a finer round gouge or to use actual wood or both).

(Is there a map from the usual Tarot suits to jeng-zai suits?)

[Not exactly? If I had to pick something, I'd say Roses = Coins, Gears = Pentacles, Eyes = Swords, and Doors = Wands because it's left over...that being said, I only have a fairly cursory knowledge of Tarot lore.

pengwern would probably be the one to ask. I can post a list of all the jeng-zai fortunetelling meanings to the comm if that would be of interest/amusement. ]

[My thinking was Roses = Andan = rich bastards = wealth/bounty = Cups. I'm sure an argument could be made for Wands though! I usually have to look up the meanings...XD ]

[Ah, I went Wands=Growing Things=Roses.

I used to have the Rider-Waite deck memorized well enough that I could do readings with ordinary playing cards, but I'm much, much too rusty these days.]

Oh no, I'm so sorry! Uh...not that I'm likely to make another fake Tarot, but in future you could ask me...I would have shared the list and saved you so much trouble...so sorry...

(aah no, I did things the lazy way by copying batches of the andan spread onto one doc and searching for aces-masters of each suit, while checking to see if there were any majors that I hadn't seen yet. I guessed that there were twenty-two of those? and that each faction had an approximate representative in them :D?)

I wasn't strict about faction representation (handwave: Machineries of Tarot predates the heptarchate and evolved haphazardly throughout), but yeah, 22 Major Arcana, etc.
