on the nature of oaths

[In the current move, Sasha has just accepted an oath of service from Jedao, a relationship Reshad believes is coercive. I'm not sure whether this properly counts as character rp or a new half-move, but I think we all need some new space to deal with the fallout!]

Sasha is waiting outside the antechamber. She has tied her scarf again, and looks as put-together as she ever does. "Are we having this conversation in my office?" she asks Reshad. "Or over tea, with everyone?"

[Before we proceed further in this direction: I'm amenable, but we need an explanation as to why the team doesn't already know this. Jedao's personal history has been scoured for every possible detail, and even the rebellion would have accessed a lot of that information. Reshad and Sasha in particular would have been good candidates for knowing this beforehand. Can you (or any other players) help me come up with a reason that Virmad's ex-ness would not have made it into the records, besides "oops it was a different timeline"?]

[oh, that was really just a humorous musing/thought, not an earnest suggestion! I think it would be too difficult to adequately integrate it into a timeline that's not radically different from the main one, and it would require some nontrivial divergences from established details/timeline tendencies (e.g., Virmad being a magistrate rather than an Inquisitor; he wouldn't be temperamentally suited for administrative work at all so it would have to be a very different Virmad to fit the bill, I think).

a more plausible thought I had was that conceivably Virmad knew/knows Jedao's Rahal ex, presumably after they dated — but I feel like at this point in the conversation it's probably too late for Virmad to mention that that's how he got a firsthand account of Jedao's charm.]
